Eye Lash Serum

Long full lashes have always been considered as highly desirable feature in women. Eye lashes frame and enhance the eye area. The normal eye lash cycle lasts 4 months and occurs in 3 distinct phases:

  • Anagen: growth phase;
  • Catagen: transition phase;
  • Telogen: rest phase prior to hair loss and new growth;

However, this treatment is different in that it has been clinically proven to produce 25% longer, 18% darker and 106% fuller lashes. In addition, this treatment is well known to be safe. This serum stimulates lashes to enter into anagen (the growth phase of the hair cycle) and to remain there for longer. You will likely notice a difference in 10-30 days. However, results are likely to take up to 16 weeks to reach maximal effect.

  • Side Effects

Side effects are minimal and include:

  • Dry skin/eye
  • Redness
  • Darkening of the eyelid skin (reversible on cessation of treatment)
  • Browning of the iris (permanent and occurs due to spillage of serum into the eye resulting in stimulation of melanocytes in the iris)
  • Hair growth in other areas (due to incorrect application)
  • Sub-optimal results ie differences in thickness, number and length of lashes (reversible on stopping treatment)
Side effects can be minimised by correct application technique and avoiding spillage into the eye or facial skin. If spillage occurs excess serum should be blotted away. If any undesirable side effects occur treatment can be ceased. Preservative free drops are recommended in patients with sensitivities to preservatives or past history of blepharitis.

  • Contraindications

Contraindications to eyelash serum include:

  • Pregnancy and breast feeding
  • Sensitivity to the product
  • Glaucoma
  • Uveitis
  • Prior eye lens removal
  • Prior lens removal with insertion of intra-ocular implant

Prior to treatment a consultation will be carried out to check suitability for treatment, to discuss the pros and cons of treatment and to demonstrate correct application of this product.

A follow up appointment will be arranged for 3 months to check outcomes and monitor for any side effects. Before and after photos will be taken. In the interim please let us know if you develop any side effects.
